Spring Trend Alert

Florals. It's florals. The 2018 Spring trend is florals. Please pick your jaw up off the floor, thank you.

That's a photo of me, collapsing from the mind-blowing announcement that florals are back for Spring.

But really, florals in Spring are not news, and yet every year, every article comes out with this trend as groundbreaking news. I'm also here doing the same thing, but let's add a twist. I'm throwing a few boards together for a few different styles.

2018 has been the year of sophistication for me. I've been swapping out some of my bolder pieces for more neutral colors, but with the sun shining and grass finally turning green again, I'm ready for some prints.

Left to right: Forever 21 off the shoulder dress, Express satin cami, H&M navy blazer, ModCloth shift dress, Anthropologie light blue cinch top Florals, for me, are definitely a statement piece. I'd wear the cami from Express with dark jeans and a black blazer for work. If I'm going out, I'd match it with a pair of light wash jeans (I mean what's more warm weathery than a pair of light wash jeans??) and a pair of wood-toned heels. Merging into Spring doesn't always mean pastels and flowers and pastel flowers. There are dark flowers, pretty of deep, blood-red roses exist. And those darker colors can keep an edgier, glamorous vibe when in a flower print. Picking flowery outfits/clothes doesn't have to be super literal either. The ModCLoth shift dress is the perfect example of trend interpretation. I love this dress because rather than being sprinkled in flowers, it's just the petals. The pretty along the lower half of the dress add texture, and it makes the dress move in a way it would have before. I think own like 2.5 dresses in this cut, and it's honestly a Godsend. Between being able to move around comfortably and eat an entire 8 course meal and not have the material clinging to my soon-to-be-birthed food baby, the halter/A-line cut is a must have.OKAY OKAY OKAY OKAY. Before I conclude this very basic post about spring and flowers and getting dressed---can we talk about STRIPES AND FLOWERS?? IT's beautiful and amazing. The off-the-shoulder striped dress with flowers on it (from Forever21) give me SO MUCH life. The combination of patterns is my absolute favorite. In theory, it sounds like it would be so much going on that it'd be too much going on, but when put together....it's pretty and elegant and dare I say it, a little bit artsy. And so, as Spring has awakened finally (at least in Indiana for today). Pull those floral shirts and skirts with flowers on them and make yourself up, because Queen, the day is yours. But while you're out and doing the most, don't forget to stop and smell the roses.
